For the fourth year we’re bringing local, regional and national stakeholders back together to discuss the significant progress the North West has made in hydrogen delivery. The event will focus on the great things happening in the North West across the full chain of production, distribution, transport, storage and fuel switching.
 
The event will take place during the UK’s fourth Hydrogen Week – the national event which unites the UK in celebrating and promoting the role of hydrogen in reaching net zero and firmly place the North West at the forefront of this vital agenda.

Delivering the Hydrogen Economy 2025 – Event Summary

We held our Delivering the Hydrogen Economy event on 26th February at the Spine in Liverpool, as part of this year’s Hydrogen Week, bringing together 250+ industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to explore the latest developments in hydrogen production, infrastructure, transport, power and skills. 

🚀 We heard from Industry Leaders – Including a keynote address from Liverpool Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram on regional hydrogen leadership.
🔍 Gained Exclusive Insights – Expert panels featuring major industry players explored the challenges and opportunities shaping hydrogen’s future.
🤝 Unrivalled Networking – Met key decision-makers and collaborators driving the hydrogen economy forward.

Key speakers included representatives from EET Hydrogen, Carlton Power, RWE, INEOS Inovyn, Cadent, Hydrogen UK, Progressive Energy, Cogent Skills, SP Energy Networks, Arup, Ulemco and Costain. 

 

 

Delivering the Hydrogen Economy 2024 – Event Summary

As part of Hydrogen Week 2024, the Delivering the Hydrogen Economy conference brought together local, regional, and national stakeholders to discuss the North West’s significant progress in hydrogen production, distribution, and implementation.

Held on 28th February 2024 at The Spine, Liverpool—one of the UK’s most sustainable and innovative venues—this free-to-attend event attracted industry leaders, policymakers, investors, and businesses eager to explore opportunities in the hydrogen sector.

Building on the success of the inaugural Hydrogen Week event in 2023, this year’s conference showcased the full hydrogen value chain, covering production, distribution, transport, storage, and fuel switching. Attendees heard from top industry voices, including representatives from Progressive Energy, Cadent, Essar, EET Hydrogen, Jacobs, University of Liverpool, Hydrogen UK, and Grenian Hydrogen, among others.

With engaging panel discussions and insightful commentary, the event provided crucial insights for businesses already involved in hydrogen and those looking to enter the space, reinforcing the North West’s position as a leader in the UK’s hydrogen economy.

Webinar: The role of hydrogen in green recovery

As the country looks to recovery from COVID-19, this webinar will look at the role of hydrogen in green recovery. With the potential for hydrogen to decarbonise our homes, businesses and industry we will talk to some of the key partners at the forefront of developing a hydrogen economy in the UK. Attendees will hear about HyNet, one of the country’s leading hydrogen and carbon capture utilisation and storage projects, Peel Environmental’s Protos site, where a UK first plastics waste to hydrogen facility is proposed, and plans by Alstom to develop hydrogen trains in Widnes. It will look at what’s needed to drive the hydrogen economy and how this can be a vital part of green recovery, driving jobs, investment and supply chain opportunities.
