Delivering the Hydrogen Economy: A Look Back at a Transformative Event

On 26 February industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators gathered in Liverpool for Delivering the Hydrogen Economy, a key event during Hydrogen Week 2025. The discussions reaffirmed the North West’s ambition to be at the forefront of the UK’s hydrogen revolution, with strong government backing and a clear commitment to tackling challenges such as storage, transportation, and infrastructure development.
A Region Poised for Hydrogen Growth
One of the key messages from the event was that the North West already has the skills and supply chain in place to support a thriving hydrogen economy. However, raising awareness and education—starting in schools and continuing through industry—will be essential to inspiring the next generation and helping businesses transition to hydrogen-powered solutions.
Hydrogen’s Role in Net Zero and Beyond
Hydrogen is set to play a crucial role in decarbonising industry, providing dispatchable power, and transforming the transport sector. With momentum building, the focus now shifts to turning ambition into action, ensuring that policies, investment, and infrastructure keep pace with the growing demand.
